Privacy Policy

How SongFinder handles your data. Browser-based audio tools process files locally; recognition inputs are sent to matching services.

Introduction

SongFinder is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our music recognition service and browser-based audio tools.

Our Privacy-First Approach

Most of our tools run entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your audio files never leave your device when you use tools like BPM Detector, Key Detector, Equalizer, Speed & Pitch, Audio Trimmer, Audio Merger, Mood Detector, Chord Detector, Audio to MIDI, Normalizer, and Noise Reduction.

Information We Collect

Song Recognition

When you use the Song Recognizer with an upload or recording, the selected audio clip is sent to the configured recognition services for identification. If you submit a URL, link handling depends on the configured provider and supported URL type; a media page is not guaranteed to be fetched or recognized. The current server chain can use ACRCloud, AudioTag, and Shazam; AudD is currently disabled. We process submitted input for matching and do not retain uploaded audio after the recognition request is complete.

Recognition History

Recognition history is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and is never sent to our servers. You can clear or disable history at any time from the recognizer page.

Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This collects usage data such as pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate location derived from network information. No personally identifiable information is intentionally linked to this data.

We may use Google AdSense to show ads on SongFinder. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to users based on visits to SongFinder and other sites on the Internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also visit AboutAds.info to learn about opt-out choices from participating third-party vendors.

Cookies

We use minimal first-party cookies for language preference and theme settings. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may use third-party cookies or similar technologies as described above.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not require user accounts or registration.
  • We do not collect email addresses, names, or personal information.
  • We do not store audio files from browser-based tools.
  • We do not sell personal information.

Third-Party Services

  • ACRCloud, AudioTag, and Shazam — Recognition services that may receive the audio input needed for identification. Supported URL flows may first require server-side media handling; refer to each provider's privacy policy for its own handling practices. We do not retain uploaded audio after the request.
  • Google Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics.
  • Google AdSense — Advertising delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and security services.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures. All connections use HTTPS encryption. Browser-based audio processing happens locally and never touches our servers.

Your Rights

Since we collect minimal data and do not require accounts, there is generally no personal data to access, update, or delete. You can clear your browser's localStorage to remove recognition history.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
