Why Use This Audio Speed and Pitch Changer

A focused browser tool for practice, transcription, remix preparation, and voice processing.

Independent Controls

Speed and pitch are separated so changing one does not automatically distort the other.

Real-Time Preview

Hear adjustments before export and refine the exact tempo or semitone shift you need.

Local Audio Processing

The SoundTouch workflow runs in the browser and exports a high-quality WAV result.

Change Tempo or Key for a Specific Job

Independent SoundTouch controls let you change tempo without intentionally changing key, or transpose without changing the selected speed. The separation is useful for practice and editing, but large shifts can create artifacts, so the preview remains part of the decision.

01

Slow down a section for practice

Lower speed while leaving pitch at zero semitones to study notes, timing, or spoken phrases without intentionally changing the original key. Slower playback increases duration, and extreme stretching may soften transients or add audible texture.

02

Transpose with measured steps

Move pitch in semitones and keep speed fixed when you need a new key. One semitone is one chromatic step and twelve make an octave; preview voices, cymbals, and sustained notes because larger shifts can expose artifacts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change speed without changing pitch?
Yes. The SoundTouch engine controls tempo and pitch independently, so you can change speed while retaining the original key or transpose while retaining the selected tempo. Extreme settings can still introduce audible time-stretching or pitch-shifting artifacts.
How far can I change audio speed or pitch?
Speed ranges from 0.5x to 2x, and pitch ranges from -12 to +12 semitones, or one octave in either direction. The controls are independent, but larger changes put more stress on transients, voices, and sustained notes, so preview the result before export.
Is audio speed and pitch processing done locally?
No. Everything runs in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your audio stays on your device.
Can I slow down audio without changing the pitch?
Yes. The speed control changes tempo independently, which helps with practice, transcription, and learning passages without shifting the original key.
Why do large speed or pitch changes sound artificial?
Time-stretching and pitch-shifting must reconstruct transients, formants, and sustained tones. Extreme settings expose that reconstruction most clearly, especially on voices and cymbals. Work in smaller steps and preview the difficult sections before exporting.
