Start by removing a problem
Try a small cut for rumble, muddiness, or harshness before adding boosts. Use a broader Q for general tone shaping and a narrower Q for a focused problem; excessive boosts can push the exported signal into clipping.

Use bypass as a reality check
Switch bypass on and off at a comparable playback level. If the processed version only seems better because it is louder, reduce the boosts and make a more focused adjustment. Presets are useful beginnings, not guarantees.

How do I boost bass, vocals, or treble with the EQ curve?
Drag any control point up or down to boost or cut that frequency band. Double-click a middle band to reveal its Q (bandwidth) control, then use the Q slider to make the boost narrower or wider.
What are the best EQ settings for vocals, bass, or clarity?
Presets are starting points, not mastering targets. Vocal Presence and Presence lift mids and highs, Warm Bass and Bass Boost lift lows, Bright & Airy opens the high end, and Lo-Fi narrows the spectrum. Adjust the preset for the recording and compare it with bypass before exporting.
How do I A/B test the equalizer with bypass?
It temporarily disables all EQ adjustments so you can A/B compare the original vs processed sound.
Should I boost or cut frequencies first?
Start with small cuts to remove muddiness, rumble, or harshness, then add gentle boosts only where the recording needs clarity, weight, or air.
Why can EQ boosts make the export sound distorted?
Several boosted bands can add enough level to exceed the available headroom even when each adjustment looks moderate. Reduce the largest boosts, prefer a small cut elsewhere when possible, and compare the preview with bypass before export.
